  Wood is a living material and is affected by light, temperature and humidity. To maintain the table’s quality and appearance, the following care instructions should be followed:

  • Protect the surface from moisture and spills. Always wipe up liquids immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
    
    
  • Always use coasters to avoid ring marks from cups, vases and other objects.
    
    
  • Avoid strong sunlight and heat sources. Do not place the furniture near radiators or in direct sunlight, as this may cause cracking.
    
    
  • Maintain with colourless furniture oil. The table should be oiled with colourless furniture oil about 3-4 times per year, depending on use. Place a drop of water on the surface to check the protection. If the drop is absorbed, a new oil treatment is needed.
    
    
  • Store extension leaves at room temperature. Leaves stored in damp environments may swell or warp. Expose them to sunlight in the same way as your table is exposed to sunlight to minimise colour variations.
    
    
  • Stain removal: Sanding with fine sandpaper can remove stains, but the entire table should then be oiled for an even result.

• How do I care for my table with a whitewashed oiled surface?

  An oiled piece of furniture may benefit from being oiled with colourless furniture oil before first use. If this applies to your table, you will find information in the enclosed care instructions. During storage and transport, the surface may have dried out, which means that the wood can absorb moisture and risk getting stains and cracks. Try doing a drop test when unpacking.

  • The table should be oiled 3-4 times per year or as needed.
    
    
  • To test whether the table needs oiling, drop a small amount of water on the surface. If the water droplet is absorbed, it is time for a new treatment.
    
    
  • Always use coasters for glasses and vases to protect the surface.

• How do I know if my table needs to be oiled?

  A simple way to check this is by doing a drop test.

  1. Place a drop of water on the table surface.
  2. Wait for about 1 minute.
     
     

  If the drop remains = The table is still saturated with oil and does not need a new treatment.

  If the drop is absorbed into the wood = The surface is dry and needs to be oiled again.

• How do I care for my table that is treated with Rubio Monocoat?

  Cleaning
  Use a well-wrung cloth with only water or Rubio Monocoat Surface Care and always wipe dry with a dry cloth afterwards.
  
  Refreshing
  To refresh the surface, treat the table with Rubio Monocoat Refresh Eco approximately 3–4 times per year.

• How do I care for my table with a lacquered surface?

  Lacquered tables require less maintenance and cannot be treated with oil.

  • Cleaning: Use a lightly dampened cloth with water or a mild soap solution. Always wipe dry with a dry cloth.
  • Avoid sharp objects and hard impacts as the lacquer may crack.
  • Always use coasters to protect against heat and moisture.
  • Do not place the table in direct sunlight or near radiators.
    
    
  • Storage of extension leaves: Ensure they are stored at room temperature and also exposed to sunlight to avoid warping and color changes. In case of cracks or damage to the lacquer, it is recommended to contact a professional, as lacquer surfaces are difficult to repair on your own.

• How do I treat a dent in my whitewashed oiled table?

  If you have got a dent in the top of your whitewashed oiled table, you can proceed in two ways.

  ALTERNATIVE 1: SAND IT AWAY
  Start by sanding down the entire table. Then oil the entire table with whitewashed oil.

   

  ALTERNATIVE 2: USE WOOD FILLER
  Another option is to use wood filler that can be applied where the damage has occurred. Leather Master has repair kits, but you can also check with the paint shop if they have any repair kits.

• Can I sand down and re-lacquer a lacquered dining table?

  In the event of damage that has penetrated the lacquer, we recommend that you contact a cabinet maker. The table cannot be sanded if it is veneered.

• How resistant are your dining tables to liquids?

  Wood is a living material and sensitive to moisture, regardless of surface treatment.

  • Spills should always be wiped up immediately.
    
    
  • Avoid leaving moisture under tablecloths, placemats or coasters.
    
    
  • Regular treatment with colourless furniture oil or the recommended surface treatment for each table type reduces the risk of damage.

• How do I remove a candle wax stain from my table?

  1. The freezing method: Place an ice cube in a plastic bag and hold it against the wax. When it has hardened, carefully try to lift it off with a plastic card.
     
     
  2. The heat method: Place a paper towel over the wax and gently heat with an iron until it is absorbed.

• How do I clean a fabric chair?

  • Vacuum or brush regularly to remove dirt.
    
    
  • Protect the fabric to reduce the risk of stains.
    
    
  • Use a damp cloth and mild detergent when needed.

• How do I move marble and travertine table tops safely?

  Marble and travertine tops are very sensitive to stress and should always be handled with great care to avoid damage or breakage.

  When moving them, it is important to always carry the top in a vertical position. Transporting it lying down increases the risk of it cracking under its own weight.
