COFFEE TABLES IN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN — THE DETAIL THAT TIES THE ROOM TOGETHER

It may seem as if a coffee table is a small and modest piece of furniture — but the right living room table makes a big difference in a room. It ties the sofa group together into a stylish whole, functions as decoration, a surface for putting things down and a gathering place for everything from a cosy coffee break to a cup of tea after work. At Rowico Home you will find stylish coffee tables in wood and sustainable materials, designed to suit most homes and interior styles.

COFFEE TABLES IN WOOD AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Rowico Home offers stylish coffee tables made from sustainable materials. Classic wooden coffee tables are an excellent match for a Scandinavian interior style and are available both in solid wood and with a veneered or laminated surface. For a smart environmental choice, you should opt for an FSC®-certified coffee table — products with FSC labelling come from responsible forestry that takes both people and the environment into consideration.

The range also includes coffee tables with marble table tops, and modern, minimalist options with wooden tops and black metal legs for those who want a more distinct industrial or contemporary expression.

WHAT KIND OF COFFEE TABLE SHOULD YOU HAVE?

The right table for your sofa depends on three things: the size of the room, the proportions of the sofa and how you actually use the table in everyday life. If you often sit and eat in front of the TV, a stable and spacious wooden coffee table is a wise choice. If you want a more decorative feature that enhances the room, a round or organically shaped living room table in a contrasting colour to the sofa can create an interesting dynamic.

Also consider storage. Several of our models have lower shelves — a practical option if you want to keep magazines, remote controls and other items out of sight that would otherwise tend to end up on the table surface.

SIZE AND PLACEMENT OF COFFEE TABLES — HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE

A rule of thumb that many interior designers use is the so-called 2/3 rule: the coffee table should be approximately two-thirds as long as the sofa it is placed in front of. If you have a 3-seater sofa measuring 220 cm, a coffee table of about 130–150 cm is suitable. This provides a balanced impression without the table either disappearing or dominating.

The height of the coffee table should be level with or slightly lower than the seat cushion of the sofa — usually 40–50 cm — to feel natural to reach from a seated position. The distance between the sofa and the table should be 40–50 cm, which provides a comfortable reach without you having to stretch.
