FURNISH LIKE IN PROVENCE

BE INSPIRED BY VALERIE AFLALO

SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN IN FRENCH OASIS

When Valerie Aflalo found her dream house in the south of France, she created a place where Scandinavian simplicity meets the relaxed lifestyle of Provence. The result is an oasis filled with natural materials, soft textures and a timeless colour palette that allows the architecture and surroundings to take centre stage.

Valerie is an entrepreneur and creator who is a well-known figure in both fashion and design. Her sense of aesthetics permeates both her work and her two homes. In her second home in Provence, she has embraced the French country style with light shades and generous window sections that create a harmonious feeling, blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors.

The neutral tones in the home create a calm expression, while natural materials such as wood, linen and wool add warmth and character. In the living room, the two generous DUNCAN sofas face each other, meeting the soft shapes of the DERMOT armchairs. Together with the French vintage coffee table, they create an inviting environment where comfort and aesthetics go hand in hand. The AUCKLAND rug in natural tones frames the furniture and enhances the calm, cosy atmosphere.

You do not need to live in the south of France to be inspired by my interior style. My tip is to choose furniture in natural materials, keep the colour palette soft and let textiles create warmth and comfort. With timeless furniture and carefully considered details, preferably personal objects that you have memories attached to, you can create the same harmonious feeling at home, whether you live in a house, flat or country home.

In the dining room, the GARDNER dining table together with the KERWIN dining chairs becomes a natural gathering place for long dinners with family and friends. The combination of solid wood and soft shapes suits a French stone house just as well as a Scandinavian home. Here, Valerie is happy to lay the table with local delicacies from Provence, such as sun-ripened tomatoes, crisp vegetables from the market, freshly baked bread and flavourful cheeses. Valerie and her family love meals that are allowed to take time and be enjoyed in good company.

One of the secrets behind the harmonious feeling in Valerie’s home is the choice of colours. Beige, sand, warm white and soft grey tones are repeated throughout the house, creating a cohesive expression. The colour palette draws inspiration from the nature outside, from limestone walls and sun-bleached wood species to the soft light that characterises Provence.
