TACTILE MINIMALISM AND WARM HUES

We are leaving the white era behind us. In 2026, we will instead create homes that feel cosy, grounded and harmonious. The colour palette draws inspiration from nature, where shades such as greige, sand and brown add depth and warmth to the room.

• Tactile surfaces: Limewashed surfaces, visible wood grain and coarse textiles such as linen and bouclé create character and a tactile feel without making the room feel cluttered.

• Warm tones and wood: Soft shades of greige and clay meet dark-stained oak and warm natural oak. Allow the natural grain of the wood to take its place and contribute depth and character.

THE COLOUR PALETTE FOR 2026

We are entering a time where colours are becoming increasingly deeper. Muted forest green shades, butter yellow and chocolate brown are taking centre stage, together with accents in blue and burgundy. Colours with more weight and personality set the tone for interiors in 2026.

You do not need to repaint an entire room to introduce this year’s colour palette. Let the base tones take place in larger pieces of furniture, such as a generous sofa, or in a rug. Then complement with accent colours in smaller details such as cushions, vases and other personal objects.

STAINED WOOD SPECIES AND THE ART OF CREATING CONTRAST

During 2026, dark-stained oak will continue to take its place, while natural oak assumes an obvious role in our homes. Materials that convey a sense of craftsmanship and quality are in focus, where solid oak meets natural materials such as travertine and marble as well as ceramic surfaces.

One of this year’s major trends, however, is less about everything matching and more about how different wood tones are combined into a harmonious whole. By mixing dark and light wood surfaces, contrasts are created that give the room more depth and character. To keep the interior cohesive, you can advantageously choose wood tones with the same undertone – warm or cool.

If you have very light furniture, a wood panelling in natural oak can create a beautiful contrast while also adding warmth to the room.

SCULPTURAL SHAPES AND TACTILE MATERIALS

Organic, rounded shapes continue to take up more and more space in our homes and create a soft contrast to the straight lines of the interior. Sofas, coffee tables and armchairs become natural eye-catchers, where the sculptural design language almost brings to mind beautiful works of art.

The choice of fabric becomes especially important as the shapes become softer. Tactile materials add both depth and character and enhance the expression of the furniture. Therefore, choose fabric with care and let the texture become part of the whole. Order free fabric samples before you make up your mind.

Dare to go for a coffee table with rounded, sculptural shapes and let it take centre stage in the room. By leaving space between the coffee table, the sofa and the armchairs, you create a sense of spaciousness while allowing the shape of the table to truly come into its own.

BRUSHED SURFACES AND MIXED METALS

Metals continue to take their place in interior design, but the high-gloss chrome is now joined by softer, brushed surfaces. Brushed brass and steel add character and create beautiful contrasts without taking over the room.

Just like with different wood tones, the metals do not need to match each other. Dare to mix warm and cool metals in the same room to create contrast and a more personal expression.
