For a Christmas table setting to look beautiful, it is not about the number of details, but about letting a few carefully chosen elements create warmth, elegance and a Christmas atmosphere. Go for a simple Christmas table setting with lovely Christmas decorations that belong to the season. We have listed three components so that you can quickly and easily create a setting that feels both personal and well thought-out.

1. A NATURAL BASE

Which you can easily create with a linen tablecloth in natural, white, red or green. It immediately contributes to a festive feeling without taking over.

2. CANDLES THAT SPREAD CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Use pillar candles, slim candles in candlesticks or tealights in candle holders. Either you stick to one type of candle, or you dare to mix. Real candles immediately create a warm, soft and inviting atmosphere that makes the dinner extra cosy.

3. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS FROM NATURE

Now it is the season for fir trees, decorative on the table in a pot, or you can place a sprig on each guest’s plate.

GUIDE: HOW TO CREATE A SERENE CHRISTMAS TABLE SETTING WITH FIR SPRIGS

Do you want to create a beautiful, classic and truly Christmassy table setting? Then fir sprigs, red tones and natural details are the perfect combination. To recreate the table setting in the pictures, you will need fir sprigs, red berries, candlesticks, tall red taper candles, white napkins, red ribbons, cones, paper and pen for place cards – as well as light-coloured porcelain and preferably placemats to protect the table.

Start by laying out fir sprigs as a soft green runner along the entire table. Then place candlesticks of different heights with long red taper candles in them to create atmosphere. Complete the table setting with small sprigs of red berries to create contrast and give the setting a little extra colour.

Perfect the table setting by laying out placemats and setting the table with light-coloured porcelain, elegant wine glasses and shiny cutlery in chrome or brass. Fold white cloth napkins and tie a simple red ribbon around each one – the bow adds a modern yet classic touch. Add the finishing touch with decorative cones as holders for your handwritten place cards. This will be both personal and thoughtful, while also creating a warm feeling for each guest.
