MISS NORRMAN DECORATES

LIVING ROOM WITH TWO SOFAS

Interior Harmony in the Parsonage

In the parsonage from 1828, the creator and flower farmer @frokennorrman creates a home where old meets new. With care, she decorates each room and allows the house's history to remain, while adding modern furniture choices for a harmonious whole. In the living room, she has chosen two sofas opposite each other to form an inviting and social gathering area.

FLOWER FARMER RENOVATES GRAND PARSONAGE

Wictoria Norrman is the creator behind the Instagram account @frokennorrman. On her account, we follow her passion for life as a flower farmer and how she carefully preserves the genuine style in their country house. She lives with her husband and their two children just outside Varberg, in a parsonage from 1828 that the family fell head over heels for.

What appealed to them the most was the harmonious and idyllic location of the house. The parsonage contains nine rooms, measures a full 315 sqm, and is surrounded by an impressive garden of 9700 sqm. Now the family is facing an exciting renovation journey, with the vision to highlight and beautify both the grand villa and the magnificent garden.

Wictoria loves being creative and has a strong sense of colour and form. Now she is more than ready to take on this life project and create a home where history and the present meet in a beautiful way.

NEW MEETS OLD

In the parsonage, many of the rooms are aligned with each other, allowing a direct view into the next spacious room. This not only creates a beautiful visual line but also enhances the grand feeling that the house conveys. The generous ceiling height further contributes to the experience of space and history.

The family's vision is to create a home where the turn-of-the-century feel is preserved, while the old meets the new in a way that highlights the house's unique character. The dining room and living room are adjacent, so it was important for them to shape a social living room where history takes its place and creates a calm that ties the rooms together.

Most of the furniture and details in the home are finds from auctions or flea markets, and several inherited pieces have also been given places of honour in the house. Together, they connect to the parsonage's original soul. At the same time, Wictoria emphasizes the importance of thinking sustainably when it comes to new furniture. For her, it was therefore a given to complement with new sofas from Rowico Home – made from sustainable materials and with a focus on longevity.

LIVING ROOM WITH TWO SOFAS FACING EACH OTHER

Wictoria and her husband Mikael wanted the living room to feel mature while also highlighting the fantastic tiled stove that stands centrally in the room. The biggest challenge was finding sofas that harmonized with the room's generous size. They desired two substantial sofas that added weight to the room – but without drawing attention away from the tiled stove. Instead, the furniture arrangement should create balance and enhance the overall impression.

To enhance the sense of calm, they chose a TV that, when not in use, resembles a painting. This allows it to blend into the decor and lets the room maintain its social and soothing character. In the downstairs living room, the focus is entirely on socializing and relaxing.

A PERIOD-APPROPRIATE FURNISHING THAT CREATES BALANCE

Wictoria explains that the balance in the living room creates a space that extends all the way from the kitchen and ties into the character of the house. She also mentions that it feels more period-appropriate with two sofas placed opposite each other – something she associates with conversation and socialising, rather than watching TV. Therefore, the choice naturally fell on this particular furnishing.

To create a cohesive whole, they have chosen a coffee table with soft lines and an elegant brown finish. It adds a stylish and airy feel to the living room and ties together the room's harmonious expression.

WICTORIA'S BEST DECORATING TIPS

1. Let the decor harmonise with the room.

Consider both proportions and style, so that the furniture feels natural in the room.

2. Create a clear focal point.

Choose an element that takes centre stage and gives the room character.
For Wictoria, it's the tiled stove that the decor revolves around. But it could also be a welcoming dining table, a large sofa, or a painting.

3. Choose furniture that enhances the whole.

Invest in furniture that either harmonises with the room's details and creates balance, or that deliberately stands out and becomes a beautiful focal point. The important thing is that the furniture feels well thought out in the room and contributes to a whole where both function and style interact.
