MARBLE

Marble is a beautiful natural material, whose appearance is always unique. Each individual piece of marble has its own unique veining in different colours, but also with small watermarks (calcite) and sand pits as natural features. Watermarks originate from water veins in the stone, where lime from the water has solidified, and sand pits are the air bubbles that form when the stone is created. This gives each stone its own character, where no stone is like another.

TRAVERTINE

Travertine is a natural limestone and is a material that provides a luxurious and sophisticated expression. The surface is naturally full of small cavities, which are filled before the final grinding and polishing is carried out. Travertine has historically been used as a building material, and it is now used for floor, wall, kitchen and table surfaces.

Marble and travertine are delicate and porous materials that require care and maintenance. The surface is sensitive to moisture and dirt and is affected by daily use. Therefore, vases and other objects should not be placed directly on the surface, as this may cause discolouration. Do not drag objects across the surface, as this will cause surface damage. 

 

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FURNITURE WITH MARBLE AND TRAVERTINE

  • The surface should be treated before the product is taken into use to increase its resistance to liquids. Contact your local specialist retailer for maintenance products intended for marble.

  • Clean with a well-wrung soft cloth containing only lukewarm water or mild soapy water. Always wipe dry afterwards with a dry cloth.

  • Keep the surface free from dirt and dust with a clean microfibre cloth.

  • Our furniture is intended for indoor use only.
  • Always protect the furniture from sharp, heavy and hot objects, as well as any form of moisture. All types of liquids such as water, coffee, wine and cleaning agents must be wiped off immediately.
  • Peel from citrus fruits and acidic liquids such as fruit juice, carbonated drinks, vinegar or spirit vinegar can damage the surface and cause permanent marks.
  • Do not expose the surface to thermal shock.
  • Use coasters to protect the surface.
  • Be careful when using coloured candles on the furniture.
  • Do not use limescale removers (e.g. toilet cleaners) or acidic cleaning agents (e.g. tile cleaner or kitchen cleaner) to clean the surface, as they may cause corrosive damage.

  • Marble and travertine tops are very sensitive to stress and should always be handled with great care to avoid damage or breakage.

    When moving them, it is important to always carry the top in a vertical position. Transporting it lying down increases the risk of it cracking under its own weight.

  • Yes, we recommend that you regularly check and retighten screws and fittings on your furniture, especially during seasonal changes. Wood is a living material that is affected by changes in temperature and humidity, which can cause screws and fittings to loosen slightly over time.
