WOODEN FURNITURE TREATED WITH RUBIO MONOCOAT

GIVE YOUR WOODEN FURNITURE A GOOD PLACE

Wood is a beautiful and very much living natural material, whose appearance and size are affected by light, temperature and humidity. Fine cracks between joined wooden parts may occur and are a result of the material moving, which is completely normal.

To minimise the risk of cracks and movement, it is important that the furniture is placed in an environment with an even temperature and humidity. Do not place the furniture in direct sunlight and make sure the entire wooden surface is exposed to the same amount of light, otherwise there is a risk of colour variations on the surface.

For dining tables, do not forget to insert the extension or additional leaf at regular intervals, so that it can mature in step with the rest of the table.

 

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FURNITURE TREATED WITH RUBIO MONOCOAT

  • Clean with a well-wrung soft cloth containing only water or Rubio Monocoat Surface Care. Always wipe off afterwards with a dry cloth.

  • To maintain lustre and resistance to dirt and liquids, the surface should be maintained with RMC Refresh Eco. Refresh Eco is a pigment-free emulsion that can be used as needed, for example a few times per month. If the table is used less frequently, and if you are careful, for example by using placemats and coasters, it may never be needed, or only a few times per year.

  • In the event of any damage, the surface can be treated locally with RMC Oil Plus 2C in the correct colour tone.

  • Temperature and humidity affect how wood shrinks and swells. This may cause doors, legs, drawers and extension leaves to vary in fit. You should therefore regularly adjust, and retighten, screws and fittings.

GOOD TO KEEP IN MIND IN EVERYDAY USE

  • Our furniture is intended for indoor use only.
  • Always protect the furniture from sharp, cold, hot objects, strong solvents and moisture.
  • All types of liquids such as water, coffee and wine must be wiped off immediately.
  • For tables, preferably use coasters to protect the surface.
  • Avoid pushing the furniture or lifting it by the top panel, doors or drawers, as there is a risk that the furniture may be damaged.
  • Always protect the furniture from sudden changes in temperature and humidity.
  • Do not place the furniture against or near a heat source.
  • Be careful when using coloured candles or tape on the furniture.
  • Do not use strong chemicals, alcohol or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the surface.
  • When maintaining and removing stains, take care to protect textiles and wallpaper.

Donate, sell or recycle the product in accordance with local guidelines when you no longer need it. In this way, you help reduce waste and extend the product’s lifespan.

  • Cleaning

    To refresh the surface, treat the table with Rubio Monocoat Refresh Eco approximately 3–4 times per year.

  • Wood is a living material and is affected by light, temperature and humidity. To maintain the table’s quality and appearance, the following care instructions should be followed:

    • Protect the surface from moisture and spills. Always wipe up liquids immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

    • Always use coasters to avoid ring marks from cups, vases and other objects.

    • Avoid strong sunlight and heat sources. Do not place the furniture near radiators or in direct sunlight, as this may cause cracking.

    • Maintain with colourless furniture oil. The table should be oiled with colourless furniture oil about 3-4 times per year, depending on use. Place a drop of water on the surface to check the protection. If the drop is absorbed, a new oil treatment is needed.

    • Store extension leaves at room temperature. Leaves stored in damp environments may swell or warp. Expose them to sunlight in the same way as your table is exposed to sunlight to minimise colour variations.

    • Stain removal: Sanding with fine sandpaper can remove stains, but the entire table should then be oiled for an even result.

  • A simple way to check this is by doing a drop test.

    1. Place a drop of water on the table surface.
    2. Wait for about 1 minute.

    If the drop remains = The table is still saturated with oil and does not need a new treatment.

    If the drop is absorbed into the wood = The surface is dry and needs to be oiled again.

  • Wood is a living material and sensitive to moisture, regardless of surface treatment.

    • Spills should always be wiped up immediately.

    • Avoid leaving moisture under tablecloths, placemats or coasters.

    • Regular treatment with colourless furniture oil or the recommended surface treatment for each table type reduces the risk of damage.

  • Yes, we recommend that you regularly check and retighten screws and fittings on your furniture, especially during seasonal changes. Wood is a living material that is affected by changes in temperature and humidity, which can cause screws and fittings to loosen slightly over time.
