ELLEN FREDELL
AN INVITING DINING AREA
In Ellen's newly renovated house, she and her husband wanted to bring in more warmth, and the obvious choice landed on the dining table EMMETT in natural oak together with the chair DRIMSDALE in a beige fabric and base in natural oak. An inviting dining area that accommodates the whole family.
WHO IS ELLEN FREDELL?
Ellen is 27 years old and married to her childhood sweetheart, together they have two wonderful daughters and a small poodle. She has been working full-time with her social media for ten years, where she shares her everyday life. Right now, there is a lot of focus on renovation and interior design because they just bought a house, mixed with life as a mom, cooking, and small touches of beauty and fashion.
Right now, Ellen is in the baby bubble with her newborn while she has her two-year-old at home. It alternates between cuddles, diaper changes, and play with renovation and work. Ellen describes it as living in a dream. They live in a villa with a large garden and are in full swing getting settled.
A HARMONIOUS HOME – JAPANDI MEETS SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN
The family lives in a 1.5-story villa of 131 square meters, a white wooden house with a large garden located in Tyresö outside Stockholm. Their biggest ongoing project right now is, as they describe it themselves, to "make the house a home". They agreed that the house didn't need renovation when they moved in, but since they wanted to make the house their own and also like to fix things, they quickly decided to start the renovation anyway.
The goal of the interior design of the house is to create a harmonious and consistent feeling. They have fallen for the Japandi style but with their touch. Their vision is that Scandinavian design meets Japanese minimalism to create a warm and harmonious home, while also being timeless and functional.
ELLEN'S FIVE BEST TIPS FOR DECORATING A HOUSE
1. MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT THEME THROUGHOUT EACH ROOM
Ellen and her husband have agreed on a color palette they like and use it as a basis when choosing decor where all colors harmonize with each other. The colors recur in all rooms but in different materials. They want to create a cohesive feeling that permeates the entire house, regardless of which room you enter.
2. THINK THROUGH YOUR PURCHASES
Try to avoid buying a lot of things just because they look nice individually. For Ellen, it is important that the items she buys and then decorates with fit together and have a clear place in the decor.
3. INCORPORATE TEXTILES
Rolling out rugs and hanging up curtains makes a big difference to the overall look, but also pillows and blankets. In Ellen's home, some lamps are made of fabric.
4. DECORATE WITH YOUR STYLE
Trends are something that always come and go, but Ellen's tip is to decorate in a style that YOU like and that you think you will enjoy for a long time.
5. LIGHTING
Decorate with several different light sources in the rooms to create that cozy, homely feeling.
THOUGHTS ON CHOOSING DINING TABLE AND CHAIRS
When Ellen was choosing a dining table and chairs for their dining area, wood was a material they wanted to incorporate into the decor. To create a warm and cozy feeling, they chose EMMETT in natural oak, which they immediately fell for.
– We wanted to incorporate more wood into our decor. In our previous home, we had a large marble table with black legs, i.e., hard and cold. Now we are more into softness and warmth, so we decided we wanted a table in natural oak. For us, it was important to have a large table so that the whole family could fit, and we immediately fell for the Emmett table when we saw it.
Ellen's style and what she had in mind for her dining area are nicely matched by the furniture available in our range. The EMMETT dining table matches Ellen nicely together with the DRIMSDALE armchair with beige fabric and legs in solid natural oak.
What primarily permeates what Ellen likes most about the furniture from Rowico Home is that they are visually pleasing to look at, but also that they feel functional and timeless.
