SUMMER TABLE SETTING
CREATE A SUMMER IDYLL
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy sunny days and warm evenings with friends and family. With the right table setting, you can transform your dining area into an idyll for summer festivities. Below we have listed our five most important tips on how to create the perfect summer table setting.
1. NICE SUMMER TABLE SETTING WITH ROOM FOR MANY
All the summer festivities need good furniture, whether it's a summer party, a simple dinner in the garden, a midsummer, graduation, or a wedding. The furniture becomes essential when you want to accommodate many guests, whether you set the table indoors or outdoors. A table setting with a long table or several smaller tables will require chairs. Here, extendable dining tables are perfect together with stackable chairs, stools, and chairs in general, an invaluable asset.
Don't be afraid to mix the chairs you usually have at the dining group with the outdoor furniture and kitchen chairs. A mix of different chairs creates character and gives a playful feeling to the table setting and the party. If the weather is nice, dare to take your dining- and kitchen chairs out into the garden or on the patio to create more seating.
2. DECORATE THE SUMMER TABLE WITH NATURAL ELEMENTS
Summer is a season with an endless supply of nature's beauty in various forms. One way to weave in nature and create a personal and unique touch is to bring flowers from the garden and pick flowers by the roadside or in the meadow. Place the flowers in a vase or put a flower on each plate for an additional personal effect, it doesn't have to be the same flowers on each plate – let your imagination flow.
Create the best conditions for your summer table setting with a good base. Should you use a tablecloth or not? There are many advantages to putting a tablecloth on the table as it partially protects the tabletop. A light linen tablecloth in a light neutral color provides a good base that enhances the porcelain and decorations in the setting.
If you prefer to highlight the natural grain and character of the table, skip the tablecloth and let the table come forward, take its place, and become a natural part of the setting. To protect the table, you can simply and stylishly set the table with placemats instead.
DECORATE ROUND AND RECTANGULAR TABLES
When decorating a round table, it is nice to have a large vase with flowers in the center and then complement it with flowers on the napkin or plate.
If you are setting up an oblong table, whether rectangular or oval. It is effective to use smaller vases with fewer flowers. Alternate these with low candle holders and tall candlesticks to create more effect and coziness as it gets darker at night.
3. PLAYFUL ELEMENTS IN TABLE SETTING
Dare to mix the colors of the napkins and how you choose to fold them. Porcelain is another way to create a playful and impactful table setting. Mix light plates with colorful bowls intended for the starter and who said the bowls have to be the same color? Try mixing!
Glasses can also be mixed excellently, adding further character and playfulness to the table setting. This includes both wine glasses and water glasses. When you choose to mix napkins, porcelain, or glasses in the table setting, you also set the tone for a relaxed dinner.
4. A NEUTRAL TABLE SETTING
If you prefer a more neutral table setting, we recommend letting the furniture with chairs and table be the center of the dinner. Set the table with plates and bowls in a neutral color along with linen napkins that are simply and elegantly placed between the plate and the bowl.
To avoid guests having to stretch a bit extra to see the person across the table, a simple trick is to place the vase with flowers on one side of the table instead of in the middle. The flowers and decorations still enhance the table setting with their often colorful presence but become more like a creative artwork that speaks for itself on the side, without disturbing the dinner or the neutral table setting.
5. ADD PERSONAL DETAILS AND COZY LIGHTING
Make your guests feel a little extra welcome with name tags at each place setting, either using their real names or nicknames to make it even more personal. Personal details or small challenges under the plate to be completed during the evening, a handwritten letter, or a simple flower in the napkin makes the table setting and dinner personal. Simple gestures if you want your guests to feel a little extra special.
Give the table setting and dinner an extra cozy factor by adding lighting. Complement with lanterns, candlesticks, or string lights to enhance the atmosphere and extend the dinner.

HAVE FUN TOGETHER
It is well known that it is the guests who make the party, so remember to have fun together. With some people, you can talk endlessly for hours, and with others, it is not as easy. In those cases, we recommend that you have prepared some simple games that you can talk around while playing and having fun together. Whether it's a card game or a strategy game on the table, it helps to lighten the mood during dinner.
